Job description:

  • Provide market competitive procurement solutions for the operating unit which demonstrate best overall value for money
  • Provide an effective and professional service in the procurement of materials covering: -
  • Work winning supply chain selection for Bid Leader
  • Construction stage project procurement for Project Leader, including: -
  • Supporting the production and driving of the procurement schedule
  • Supporting the development of work package documents in conjunction with project teams
  • Work package procurementSupport the supply chain management activities, including structuring the supply chain, carrying out performance and
  • relationship management to drive improved performance/cost benefits
  • Support activities that generate and encourage an efficient, productive and continuously improving supply chain performance
  • Support the group procurement functional goals and objectives within the region
  • Ensure supplier evaluation forms and risk assessments are maintained
  • Providing a comprehensive procurement service for all projects
  • Deliver a consistent procurement approach across all projects within the region from work winning / pre-construction stage.
  • Demonstrate best overall value for money in the procurement recommendations
  • Ensure a robust negotiation process is applied in the engagement process
  • Ensure contract arrangements and package details are comprehensive and protect the business in its dealings with suppliers
  • Ensure decisions are not focussed upon lowest price but overall best value for money
  • Support the development of an accredited and structured supply chain that is aligned to the regional demands and overall strategy
  • Input to the monitoring of the marketplace to ensure awareness of pricing trends, risks and opportunities
  • Continuously seek out and assess new supply chain members to meet regional project demand
  • Support the monitoring of the supply chain performance, workload and financial status to protect the corporate position
  • Support the development of the supply chain, products and innovations that bring cost and/or buildability benefits
Required profile:

  • CIPS qualified Experience within a construction/engineering or similar background
  • CSCS Card (relevant type)
  • All roles are expected to have the relevant competency skills cards where site-based work is required.
  • Minimum 3 years Buying experience
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of work practices, processes and procedures within the construction process from pre-construction stage and into construction stage. Good knowledge of sustainability within procurement practices.
  • Good existing business network and relationships with the supply chain.
  • Experience of running supply chain events
  • Experience with tendering process (CompeteFor etc)
  • Good product and supplier knowledge
  • Good working knowledge of contracts.
  • Good time management skills.
  • MS package knowledge (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project).
