Job Title: Project Coordinator
Location: Newcastle
Join a leading global defence manufacturer who specialise in cutting edge engineering projects. Due to continued success I’m keen to speak with candidates who can support the delivery of essential defence equipment to Armed Forces across the world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaising with suppliers as part of procurement activities.
- Suggesting improvements to enhance supply chain performance.
- Arranging packaging of products for shipment in coordination with subcontract packing companies, ensuring correctness.
- Managing the shipping of goods in accordance with contract requirements, including interactions with freight forwarders and packers.
- Maintaining excellent communication with customer contacts.
- Overseeing project management of spare part orders from order to delivery.
- Managing product repair projects from receipt of goods through analysis, repair, and return to the customer.
- Seeking and recommending solutions to improve Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD).
- Utilizing data to make effective decisions within defined boundaries.
- Collaborating with Project Management team members and others in the organization.
- Sharing knowledge and assisting others as time permits.
- Supporting senior members of the Projects team with assigned tasks.
- Ensuring projects are executed within the allocated budget.
Skills / Experience:
- A university degree or equivalent experience of at least 2 years is required.
- Previous experience in engineering or manufacturing is an asset.
- A self-starter and multi-tasker who can work at a fast pace.
- Inquisitive with the ability to develop solutions.
- Proficient in using data to support decisions and suggest improvements.
- Understanding of the importance of Quality, Cost, and Delivery, and the impact of poor QCD.
- Competent in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with MS Access-based database systems is a plus.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical components for procurement, including costs and lead times.
- Ability to interpret drawings or OEM specifications for quotations and procurement.
- Knowledge of shipping Incoterms and experience arranging freight for shipments.
- Basic understanding of indented Bills of Materials for procurement with support from senior staff.
- Understanding of cost versus price, minimum order quantities, etc.
- Takes ownership of actions and demonstrates good judgment in seeking help when needed.
- Knowledge of procurement terms and conditions.
