Other - Agenda for Change Band 8b - £62,215 to £72,293 plus high-cost area supplement where this applies to the home location

Contracted Hours: 0.4 WTE - Please note that the working days required are Monday and Tuesday

Contract Type: Permanent

The Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigation Programme is part of a national strategy to improve maternity safety across the NHS in England.

The Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigation (MNSI) programme, formerly the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) maternity programme, moved to be hosted by the CQC on the 1 October 2023.

The maternity programme commenced under HSIB in April 2018, following the request from the then Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. The programme is part of the overall national maternity ambition to improve maternity safety and reduce harm by 50% by 2025. The programme was fully rolled out across England by April 2019. In 2022, a commitment was made to continue the programme for a further 5 years.

What you will bring…

The post holder will work as part of the maternity programmes’ clinical advisory team providing clinical advice to support maternity investigators and team leaders to undertake maternity investigations.

Reporting directly to the Lead Midwifery Clinical Advisor, you will provide expert midwifery clinical advice and guidance ensuring investigation reports are representative of current clinical practice, representative of national guidance and initiatives and factually accurate.

As a Midwifery Clinical Advisor, you will work collaboratively with other clinical advisors, the Heads of each region, the Clinical Director, and their deputy, to support the requirements of the programme across England.
