Job Title: Food Technology Teacher
Location: SEMH School, West Drayton
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: As soon as possible
We are currently recruiting for a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school located in West Drayton, dedicated to providing a vibrant and exciting learning environment for students with SEMH and/or challenging behaviours.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Food Technology Teacher to teach KS3 and KS4 students. This is a unique opportunity to work in a thriving, supportive School where you can make a real difference in the lives of young people.
As a Food Technology Teacher, you will deliver high-quality lessons in Food Technology to students with a variety of social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will foster an engaging, supportive, and structured classroom environment, helping students to develop practical skills and achieve success both in the classroom and in their personal growth.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, creative, and able to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students. You will work closely with colleagues and support staff to create a positive learning experience for all students.
This is a full-time, permanent role to start as soon as possible. The salary will be equal to the main Teachers’ pay scale plus SEN points.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver Food Technology lessons that are tailored to the needs and abilities of SEMH students.
Develop students’ practical cooking and food preparation skills, alongside theoretical knowledge.
Create and maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment.
Differentiate lessons to accommodate a wide range of learning styles and abilities.
Maintain high standards of safety and hygiene in the Food Technology kitchen.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialism in Food Technology or Design & Technology.
Experience teaching Food Technology at Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4.
A good understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH and how to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to work effectively with young people with a range of needs.
A passion for food education and a commitment to helping students build life skills through practical learning.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
Experience teaching KS3 and KS4 students in a mainstream School, SEMH School or alternative provision setting.
Knowledge of additional support strategies for students with SEMH.
A relevant degree in Food Technology or a related subject.
