Job Type: Full-time 33hrs, Permanent

Salary:

  • 39-hour contract: £28,597.40 - £29,767.40 (including sleep-in rate)
  • Sleep-in rate: £55.00 (Average of 1.4 sleep-ins per week)

(Salary scales are dependent on qualifications and previous experience)

Welcome Bonus of up to £1,500 (T&Cs apply)

The Role: Senior Support Worker

In this role you will form part of the team working in our projects across Weymouth, Dorchester, & Ferndown. We provide our young residents with a space to grown with confidence, enhance their self-esteem and develop the life skills require to live independently.

A Senior Support Worker will oversee and coordinate the day to day running of projects. The role will be responsible for ensuring all current and newly referred residents receive high-quality, person-centred support promoting independence and emotional health and wellbeing.

In order to ensure the Senior Support Worker has the opportunity to establish and maintain direct contact and involvement with those we support, a main part of the role will be direct support with residents following the Steps To Independence support planning process.

A Senior Support Worker will ensure consistency in service and provide a homely environment for young people aged between 16 21 years old to live in, however it is imperative that all staff are involved at all levels encouraging a strong team mindset. Senior Support Workers have to be diverse and flexible in their roles, they will be expected to be involved in all levels of support across the service.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will:

You will be responsible for ensuring the property maintenance and building safety is maintained to a high standard of decoration, working in partnership with the company Service Environmental Officer.

Leading the team in preparing and maintaining up to date individual support plans, recording safeguarding monitoring and actions, risk assessments, alongside coordinating the provision of high quality, individualised support to vulnerable residents.

You will ensure good joint working practices are established and maintained with relevant key stakeholders including health and social care, childrens services, YOT, Police, Education, housing benefit and universal credit to ensure rent management is maximized.

Leading the team to ensure important appointments are kept across the service and utilizing staffing resources. Liaising with all residents to prioritise resident involvement, team meetings and feedback to promote resident ownership and positive emotional health and wellbeing.

Run daily morning meetings to organise the daily responsibilities and jobs, whilst managing the staffing resources for the day.

Check rotas and calendars for project and ensuring effective support of the residents.

Ensure records of support provision and risks are accurately maintained.

Check daily records and on-call records to assist and guide with daily operation of services.

Monitor service systems according to policy and procedure e.g. fire checks, visitor records, welfare checks etc.

To monitor and oversee the correct use and recording of petty cash.

Responsible for the safety and security of buildings, ensuring that offices and entrances are secure at the end of the day.

On-call monitor Senior Support Worker will be responsible for ensuring they are aware of any out of hours activity communicating with out of hours staff where appropriate for updates.

Regular checks throughout the day with individual services. It is key that Senior Support Workers are involved across all services and keep open communication with all team members and play a major role in promoting team comradery and morale.

Office area supervision Encourage healthy engagement with residents Lily ethos out of office space. This is essential to avoid an institutional environment. All team members including Senior Support Workers to be encouraged to use laptops in shared areas and meet with residents in other rooms where appropriate.

Senior Support Workers will be responsible for ensuring the team offer weekly life skills and programs of support are planned and offered to residents.

Play a key role in the move on of residents across services.

Keep Projects clean and tidy ideally with resident involvement.

About You:

  • You are passionate about making a difference in young peoples lives.
  • Experience in dealing with challenging situations / and or behaviours.
  • Experience in maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with children, families, colleagues and external organisations.
  • Ideally you will have experience in a senior support worker or support worker setting and hold, or are working towards, a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • You are reliable, compassionate, and have excellent communication skills.
  • A driving license is required.
