A leading, multi-award-winning UK building services contractor is currently seeking an MEP BIM Coordinator to support their expanding BIM, Pre-Construction, Design, and Operations teams at their impressive new Head Office in Banbridge. This pivotal role involves managing MEP design coordination for multiple large-scale projects across the UK, Ireland, and Europe, including decarbonisation, renewable energy, data centres, healthcare, commercial, high-rise residential, educational, and airport projects.
Your new role
Evaluate BIM models for MEP systems to ensure they meet design criteria and standards.Review MEP drawings for accuracy and alignment with BIM models and project requirements.Oversee quality control for MEP modelling and drawing production, suggesting innovative design solutions to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.Identify potential risks in MEP installations and propose pre-emptive measures.Engage with suppliers to incorporate accurate product data into BIM models.Attend BIM meetings to discuss progress, clashes, and resolutions, ensuring an integrated design approach.Monitor the BIM team’s adherence to project timelines, track and manage design changes, and use tools like Autodesk Navisworks to resolve clashes between MEP systems and other disciplines.Ensure MEP designs comply with local codes, standards, and project requirements.Maintain records of reviews, feedback, and coordination activities, documenting all changes.Act as the primary contact between the BIM team and offsite fabrication and onsite operations teams, ensuring smooth transitions.Stay updated with BIM and MEP design trends, providing guidance to junior team members.Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other disciplines for a holistic project approach.Regularly update key stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and contractors, on project status and challenges.Continuously improve MEP coordination and BIM procedures to align with industry best practices and technological advancements.What you'll need to succeed
Strong building services background with minimum 5 years’ experience with MEP installations on commercial scale projectsIn-depth understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design principles, standards, and best practices.Understand project management principles to ensure timely task completion and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.Ability to lead teams, provide guidance, and ensure tasks are executed efficiently. Desirable:A relevant third level education in building services, construction or project managementCompetent understanding of mechanical systems in medium to large commercial projectsProficient in Autodesk Navisworks for Coordination reviewProficient in Microsoft Office Packages What you'll get in return
