Estimating Manager
We have partnered up with an established façade company that specialises in the supply of natural facades and high end façade products. They distribute and fabricate high-end natural cladding products and offer design and installation services.
Job Purpose:
As the Estimating Manager, you will lead the Estimating Department, overseeing all aspects to ensure accurate and competitive project pricing. This role involves managing workflows, planning resources efficiently, and fostering strong supplier and customer relationships. Additionally, you will be responsible for the financial viability of pricing proposals, balancing competitiveness with profitability to support the company's commercial success.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Departmental Oversight:
* Lead and manage the Estimating Department, ensuring smooth operations and accurate pricing for all projects.
* Prioritise estimating tasks and workloads, ensuring deadlines are met and resources are efficiently utilised.
* Manage, train, and mentor junior estimators to foster growth and skill development within the department.
Strategic Resource Planning:
* Oversee resource allocation within the department to ensure timely delivery of estimates.
* Plan and manage department resources, ensuring optimal efficiency and productivity across projects.
Supplier and Customer Engagement:
* Engage with suppliers to negotiate the best material and equipment pricing, maintaining strong relationships for future procurement.
* Collaborate closely with clients to clarify requirements and provide accurate quotations.
* Act as a key point of contact between the company and clients to ensure transparent communication throughout the estimation process.
Commercial Viability and Risk Management:
* Review and approve all pricing submissions to ensure they align with the company’s commercial objectives.
* Analyse project costs to ensure profitability, balancing competitive pricing with commercial success.
* Conduct value engineering to offer clients cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality.
Job Requirements
* Strong background in the construction or façade industry, with proven experience in estimating, resource planning, and supplier management.
* Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing an estimating or similar department.
* In-depth knowledge of façade materials and solutions, with the ability to read and interpret construction and architectural drawings.
* Strong commercial acumen, able to balance competitive pricing with profitability.
* Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage both suppliers and clients effectively.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and AutoCAD, with the ability to manage large sets of data and conduct detailed analysis.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable:
* Any experience within the facades industry, including knowledge of how to read façade drawing packages and strong mathematical skills are essential.
