Job Description
Job Title: Import & Export Team Leader
Location: Surrey, United Kingdom
Salary: £40k-£44K
We are seeking an experienced Import & Export Team Leader to manage the end-to-end flow of goods in and out of the UK and handling all necessary documentation to facilitate the smooth movement of goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing customer orders.
- Issue export documentation in compliance with destination country regulations.
- Maintain export trackers for up-to-date and accurate records.
- Ensure import declarations are processed accurately
- Manage data flow on the e-customs clearance platforms
- Keep import trackers accurate and current.
Additional Duties:
- Lead and support team development
- Provide customs support for various UK location sites for imported goods and capital equipment and resolve any customs issues with HMRC.
- Manage vendor contracts with freight forwarders, customs brokers, hauliers, and other third parties to maintain SLAs and cost agreements.
- Prepare data for annual audits and conduct weekly and monthly audits to monitor process status.
- Drive continuous improvement across all import/export processes, focusing on efficiency and minimizing manual tasks.
Essential Skills
- Team management experience needed
- Solid background in shipping, exports, freight forwarding, or customs.
- Proficient in handling export/import documentation for EU and non-EU countries.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, commodity codes, export regulations, and trade compliance.
- Excellent data accuracy, numeracy, and multitasking skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in troubleshooting customs entries.
