Learning Support Assistant 1:1 (SW19)
Long-term role
Work closely with a specific student to provide personalised support and ensure they have the best possible learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one support to a designated student, adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs.
Assist the student with academic tasks, including reading, writing, and mathematics.
Implement personalised learning plans and strategies under the guidance of the classroom teacher and special education coordinator.
Help manage the student's behavior and emotional needs, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Support the student during classroom activities, group work, and field trips.
Monitor and report on the student's progress and development to teachers and parents.
Facilitate communication between the student and teachers, ensuring the student understands instructions and expectations.
Encourage the student’s social integration and participation in school activities.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to build a rapport with the student.
Basic knowledge of child development and educational practices.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other staff members.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the student and classroom environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in special education or working with children with specific learning needs.
Training in behaviour management techniques.
Familiarity with assistive technology and tools.
First Aid certification.
