Purpose of the Job
This is a critical role at an exciting time for the company. The role will lead a team and manage every stage of the production flow for our Health and Agricultural divisions, from purchasing the raw materials to the delivery of the final product nationally and internationally.
You will ensure our production and R&D facilities are consistently supplied with the equipment and materials needed for our growing Friendly™ insect technology program, with responsibility for procurement, demand planning, domestic and international logistics, national and international sourcing and shipments, and supplier contract management.
Responsibilities
- Manage Oxitec Brazil’s Supply Chain area and related operations for both Health and Agricultural divisions, including the design and implementation of supply chain and procurement strategies;
- Work closely with manufacturing and R&D teams to understand the requirements of innovative equipment and raw material development;
- Devise and manage the implementation of innovative processes;
- Manage the entire S&OP process, from the receipt of inputs to product dispatch to the customer; checking reports and working on problem solving to ensure delivery on time;
- Manage and control inventories, ensuring appropriate levels are maintained. Plan, control, and optimize quantities purchased by time of year, price variations, and SLAs of suppliers to ensure high quality services and products while meeting cost requirements quality of suppliers' deliveries;
- Develop and implement shipping strategies that optimize cost-effectiveness, meet customer requirements, and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Manage costs whilst maintaining quality and always enabling effective production;
- Manage suppliers’ contracts, ensuring excellence in the service level. Source and qualify suppliers for specialized shipping, warehousing, courier services, road transportation and air freight, and for a range of equipment and materials, to develop preferred supplier recommendations;
- Monitor supplier delivery to ensure that items are delivered on time to maintain production flow;
- Ensure the smooth flow of goods across borders by navigating customs regulations, logistics, and documentation. Work with other stakeholders to expedite processes and reduce risks;
- Develop and manage reporting tools with KPIs for the area.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Engineering, or related areas;
- At least five years of experience in all Supply Chain management, such as Manufacturing, Planning, Purchasing, Logistics and Warehousing;
- At least five years working in support of innovative companies and/or technologies;
- Experienced in logistics and supply chain in the health and/or agriculture business;
- Biotech and/or life sciences industry experience will be an advantage;
- Experience in international sourcing and good knowledge of the import-export process;
- Capable of explaining how the Brazilian Supply Chain markets work as an important part of the product development and go-to-market efforts;
- Expert planning and budgeting skills;
- Excellent English and Portuguese written and oral communication skills;
- Competent in MS Office, and other pertinent tools (ERP, SAP, other).
