Position Overview

Technical Support Engineer providing both remote and onsite technical support of systems and components within the Offshore wind turbine.

Siemens is currently seeking an additional member for our dedicated Technical Support (L1) team, providing both remote and onsite technical support for systems and components within the Offshore turbine platform. Relocation will not be offered for this role.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Advanced troubleshooting of direct drive wind turbine through the analysis of remote data.
  2. Guiding site technicians through non-destructive testing and troubleshooting through the telephone, video calls, or augmented reality technology.
  3. Attend phone calls from sites and respond to technical queries by listening carefully and providing step-by-step guidance in troubleshooting of turbines.
  4. Help sites, commissioning team, spares and supplies team, and after market team with parts identification, specifications and finding alternate parts to enable reducing turbine downtime.
  5. Respond to cases in various case management systems like Salesforce, MORS, Windhub, and JIRA on a first-come-first-serve basis unless it is a turbine down.
  6. Help training team by providing technical guidance and conducting training session as and when needed, conduct customer visits to remote operations center.
  7. Ensure response time of less than 48 hours and case completion/escalation within 5 days.
  8. Help commissioning team with all technical issues during the commissioning and handing over of turbines from project to operations phase.
  9. Present and explain technical issues to a wide variety of people in a clear manner.
  10. Help documentation team for creating draft documents by providing technical/quality/safety inputs.
  11. Help Quality, Environment, Health and Safety team to conduct Rapid risk assessment, create and disseminate quality documents, and bulletins as and when needed.
  12. Assess and quantify failure trends and material consumption through the use of data analytics.

You will work in a flexible shift pattern to provide 7-day cover. Should be extremely organized with respect to documentation and should be able to access the same ASAP. Willing to travel up to 25% of the time and work hands-on in the turbine at height of 70 meters or more, as and when necessary. Requires great verbal and written communication skills, customer service driven, and a professional and positive attitude all the time. Need to undergo and pass a fitness test, basic climb, rescue, CPR, classroom and hands-on training at the training center and site/s as per the Offshore platform requirements.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR Associate Engineering degree with at least 8 years hands-on work experience in wind turbine trouble-shooting or major component change outs.
  2. OR Diploma with at least 10 years hands-on experience in wind turbine troubleshooting or major component changeouts.
  3. Preference for bilingual English (Mandatory) and Spanish (Desirable).
  4. Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States.
  5. Qualified applicants will not require employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR Associate Engineering degree with at least 8 years hands-on work experience in wind turbine troubleshooting.
  2. Expertise in advanced troubleshooting of direct drive wind turbine through the analysis of remote data.
