We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker (PSW) to join our pastoral team starting in January 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for an empathetic and proactive individual to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide emotional, social, and behavioral support to students, ensuring their well-being and personal development.
Work closely with Heads of Year and the wider pastoral team to identify and address barriers to learning.
Support students in overcoming challenges and improving their attendance, punctuality, and engagement.
Build positive relationships with students, parents, and external agencies to ensure a collaborative approach to pastoral care.
Develop and deliver small group interventions and 1:1 mentoring sessions tailored to individual needs.
Monitor and report on students' progress and well-being, maintaining accurate records.
Contribute to a safe and inclusive school environment that promotes positive behavior and respect.
Person Specification:
Essential:
A genuine passion for supporting young people and promoting their well-being.
Experience working with children or young people in an educational, social care, or youth work setting.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
A proactive and resilient approach, with the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and empathetically.
Desirable:
Knowledge of safeguarding practices and legislation.
Experience in delivering mentoring or group interventions.
Relevant qualifications in youth work, social care, or education.
