Job Description:
GSL Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a Forest School background to a 3 form entry school in Heywood, OL10. This unique role combines traditional classroom support with the exciting and dynamic environment of a Forest School, providing a holistic educational experience for students.
Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant in Heywood, OL10:
• Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons both in the classroom and outdoor Forest School settings.
• Support the development of children’s social, emotional, and cognitive skills through hands-on outdoor activities.
• Create a safe and nurturing outdoor learning environment that encourages exploration and creativity.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students to enhance their learning experience.
• Help manage classroom and outdoor behaviour, maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Support students with special educational needs, adapting teaching methods as required.
• Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources, both indoor and outdoor.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers.
• Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development activities.
• Uphold and follow the policies of the school, including health and safety guidelines for outdoor activities.
Requirements for the Teaching Assistant in Heywood, OL10:
• Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational or outdoor setting.
• Forest School Leader qualification or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of the benefits of outdoor education and how it can be integrated into the curriculum.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive and dynamic learning environment.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one.
