Job Description

Our client is a well renowned Construction company adding multidisciplinary contractors and delivering innovative engineering and construction solutions across the rail, highways, aviation, ports, defence, energy, water, and environment sectors.

We are currently seeking a Bid Manager with a relevant amount of Construction experience within the industry.

Reporting to the Commercial Director you will deliver work on winning tenders.

Manage both internal and external bid team members ensuring their responsibilities are met correctly and to the agreed timescales.

Look for innovation to further develop work winning opportunities.

Maintain personal training and development.

You will represent the company in the delivery of tenders.

To receive instruction on behalf of the company and to issue instruction and provide direction in order to ensure the successful delivery of tenders assigned to the Bid Manager by Senior Management.

Identify the likely key issues before the tender lands

Assist with selection of designer / likely JV partners – agree tender design services and fees o Identification of key subcontractors

Meetings with key stakeholders / subcontractors to develop early relationships

Identification of internal team o Review available information from PQQ / Business Development team o Research technologies / project background o Identify client decision makers

Prepare for and attend pre-tender interviews/meetings with Client Team T

Liaise with, coordinate and manage the bid team:

Estimators

Buyer

Planners

Ops Support / Contracts Manager

Design Team – review related design services for completeness o Subcontractors / suppliers

Client team o Submissions Editor / Proposals Manager o PQQ / Business Development

BUSINESS CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT:

Obtain performance data from sites for incorporation into tenders (from HSEQ/Bus Dev etc)

Validate compliance against quality submission commitments to assess practical limitations and ideas for future bids

Assist with development and maintenance of data libraries

Assist sites with data capture and link back to business development team

Attend project close out meetings and facilitate production of suitable material

Visit live contracts to review value engineering and current best practice and feedback knowledge in to bid team and future tenders

Maintain effective relationships with key customers and supply chain partners

You will be authorised and empowered to make decisions necessary in the delivery of their responsibilities.

You will be required to communicate effectively with their line managers, beyond a need-to know basis, so that suitable checks and balances can be implemented
