The opportunity
Given increased project expansion, our client is currently seeking an experienced Temporary Works Co-ordinator to ensure effective implementation of temporary site work procedures are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
As the Temporary Works Coordinator you will be reporting to the Construction Manager you are responsible for the Coordination of Temporary Works on EPCM or EPC projects.
Responsible for implementing Company Temporary Works procedures on site and checking that other contractors who are directly or indirectly involved in Temporary Works are implementing their procedures.
Overall responsibility for the co-ordination of Temporary Works and is the single point of contact on-site for the works.
Ensure that any TWS appointed are operating in accordance with the approved procedures.
Ensure that a design brief is prepared ensuring adequate consultation is undertaken and is in accordance with the actual situation on site.
Hold details of any residual risks, identified at the design stage, assumed methods of construction or loading constraints shall be identified by the designer of the permanent works and included in the design brief.
Ensure that a satisfactory design is carried out and that all Temporary Works are suitably categorised.
Attend regular Temporary Works design review meetings to monitor progress on the designs to ensure they will be available for use when the site team needs them.
Take responsibility for the coordination of all activities related to the Temporary Works and ensure that the various responsibilities have been allocated and accepted in accordance with BS 5975.
The Temporary Works Register is kept up to date with any Temporary Works design changes.
Maintain the first point of contact between the designer and the site team, in all instances ensuring the Temporary Works design is implemented in accordance with the approved drawings and specifications.
Issue formal permission to load/bring Temporary Works/falsework into use
All those responsible for on-site supervision receive full details of the design, including any limitations and guidance notes associated with it and prepare a specific method statement.
Where appropriate, ensure that the design is made available to others, e.g. the Principal Designer or the Designer of the permanent works.
Create and manage an inspection and maintenance programme for the Temporary Works. Ensure adequate assurance checks are carried out on the work during the life of the project.
Any proposed changes in materials or construction are checked against the original design and appropriate action taken, and ensure that any agreed changes, or corrections of faults, are correctly carried out on-site.
Responsible for Permits / hold points and should ensure no unauthorised alterations are made to the works.
Issue formal permission to unload/take out-of-use Temporary Works/falsework. Temporary Works are dismantled in accordance with a defined procedure (safe system of work).
All relevant information is retained and included in the Health and Safety File.
Where Temporary Works are transferred from one project to another, the Temporary Works Coordinator shall check if the Temporary Works design is suitable for future use and loads. Also, check that suitable inspections have taken place. You will have the following qualifications & experience
More than 3 years of experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator, preferably on EPC projects in Oil & Gas sector
Relevant up-to-date technical and H&S training together with the qualifications and the experience appropriate to the complexity of the project.
Good knowledge of Temporary Works design including familiarity with BS 5975 and industry good practices, able to satisfy design brief, ensure detailed design documentation, liaise with the Principal Designer and Construction Manager.
Able to advise of any risks (erection, use, dismantling) are not obvious to a competent contractor.
You must have extensive civil and electrical experience and be well-versed in Temporary Works management and execution.
Experience with early work and interaction with design, engineering and constructability.
Good knowledge of Civil and Structural engineering and design, but you also have a sound knowledge of the other disciplines (Automation, Mechanical, Piping, EC&I and Process).
MEng / BEng / HNC / HND in Civil and Structural Engineering.
Experienced with the production of civil and structural specifications, scopes of work, calculations, drawings and schedules.Get in touch now
