Job Description

We are currently working in partnership with a City Council who are recruiting for a Commercial Solicitor to join their team on a locum basis, for 3-months initially with potential for extension.


The role offers remote working and a rate in the region of £50 p/hour UMB, subject to experience.


The ideal candidate will have experience of handling contracts and procurement law within Local Government, and skills in handling high-value and complex agreements.


Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing legal advice in regards to varied commercial contracts matters, initially focused on varied corporate/company work
  • Delivering successful outcomes on a wide range of projects, including major transformational development/regeneration works, construction, and creating trading companies and joint ventures
  • Drafting and negotiating key agreements, including NDAs, IT agreements, NEC/JCT contracts, and funding agreements
  • Reviewing a range of commercial contracts and providing extensive procurement advice to Council departments, its officers and employees
  • Advising on procurement challenges, taking the lead role on successfully opposing them, and related legal matters, and defending aborted procurements
