Job Description
Social Worker - MASH - London Borough Of Greenwich
Role: Social Worker
Location: London Borough Of Greenwich
Team: MASH
Pay: Up to £37 ph
Contract: Full-time Locum
OFSTED: Outstanding
Are you an experienced Qualified Social Worker with a passion for child-centered practice? Greenwich Local Authority is looking for a dedicated and reliable social worker to join our MASH Team, working in a 100% office-based environment to help safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children. This role offers a competitive rate of up to £37 per hour and an opportunity to make a significant impact on children and families in need.
About the Role:
As a Qualified Social Worker in our MASH Team, you will play a critical role in assessing and responding to referrals, ensuring that children are protected, supported, and given the best opportunity to thrive. This role involves effective intervention, risk assessment, and collaborative working with multi-agency partners to provide a safe and supportive environment for children and families. Key responsibilities include:
Timely Identification of Needs and Risk: Provide effective social work support to children in need, ensuring their health and development are promoted, and any disabilities are minimized to allow them to live as normal a life as possible.
Safeguarding and Permanency Planning: Identify when children are unable to live at home, taking timely action to secure permanence within a timeframe that meets their needs. For looked-after children, ensure their needs are met in line with their care or pathway plan, helping them make progress and fulfill their potential.
Child-Centered Practice: Place the child at the heart of assessment, planning, intervention, and review processes. Regularly seek and consider their views and wishes to understand their world and tailor interventions accordingly.
Professional Leadership and Collaboration: Lead effectively within a multi-agency framework, ensuring professionals work together to meet the needs of children in need, including those on a child protection plan, privately fostered children, looked-after children, and care leavers.
Working with Parents and Carers: Collaborate with parents and carers to strengthen protective factors, reduce risks, and promote safe and reasonable parenting. When cooperation isn’t forthcoming, pursue alternative arrangements to secure the child’s well-being.
About You:
We are looking for a Qualified Social Worker with recent experience in a MASH or similar screening team, with a commitment to child-centered practice and the ability to handle complex cases in a fast-paced, office-based environment. Strong communication, assessment, and decision-making skills are essential, as well as a commitment to collaborative work within a multi-agency setting.
What We Offer:
Competitive rate of up to £37 per hour
Office-based environment with a supportive and dynamic team
Opportunity to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children in Greenwich
