Pay: Up to £37 ph
Contract: Full-time Locum
About the Role:
The London Borough of Sutton is looking for a skilled and passionate Senior Social Worker to join our dedicated Court Team. This role is ideal for a social worker with a genuine interest in court work, providing an opportunity to work exclusively on cases within care proceedings. You will be responsible for managing cases from the initial hearing through to final decisions, including adoption where applicable. With a protected caseload, you’ll be able to focus on delivering high-quality, detailed assessments and reports, essential to supporting the welfare of children.
The role includes remote work, but you will need to visit children, attend face-to-face meetings, and come into the office for duty (approximately once every two weeks). Our team provides excellent management support, offering you the opportunity to develop specialized skills in court proceedings, viability assessments, and parenting assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of cases in care proceedings, from initial hearings to adoption, as well as cases under supervision orders.
Prepare thorough, well-documented court reports and assessments, including parenting and viability assessments, and provide evidence in court as needed.
Work closely with children in care or on CP plans, as well as those placed with parents or family members.
Ensure the welfare of children throughout the court process by working closely with multi-agency partners and legal professionals.
Conduct regular visits to children, assessing their well-being and ensuring they are in safe, supportive environments.
Actively participate in supervision, contributing to reflective practice and seeking professional development.
About You:
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
At least 3 years of post-qualified experience, including court proceedings, care proceedings, and working with looked after children or children on CP plans.
Proven experience in producing high-quality court reports and viability assessments and the ability to give confident, professional evidence in court.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with legal teams, families, and multi-agency partners.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children within the court process.
