What the role is all about: We're seeking an experienced Senior Lead Engineer (7-10 years experience) who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys being hands-on tackling technical challenges and leading teams to deliver innovative solutions. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the globe, leading the design, development, and optimization of features to ensure high-quality, scalable solutions that deliver exceptional user experiences. This role sits in the Media Team, within the Advertising portfolio. The Media team helps consumers share, rent, buy, sell and enjoy property, by connecting them with all sorts of products and services to help them along their property journey. This includes finance products, utilities, home services, furnishings, automotive and many more innovative advertising, lead generation tools and extension products. The fast-growing Media business includes a cross-functional team from Product, IT, Sales, Marketing, PR and Communications, HR, Finance and Legal. Were all about using digital solutions to make property and everything that supports consumers around property, simple, efficient and stress free. The Senior Lead Engineer role has key strategic importance and visibility within the business. This is a unique role that will focus on delivering thought leadership in advertising technologies, designing innovative solutions, and helping teams leverage this to produce world class advertising products. This is your chance to work on impactful projects that drive customer satisfaction and company growth. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies alongside talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment. While no two days are likely to be the same, your typical responsibilities will include: Thought leadership in buying ads, selling ads, and sharing data with advertising clients. Writing, testing and documenting code according to REA Engineering standards and practices Leading or significantly contributing to initiatives with strategic focus and value Solving deep, complex technical problems in ways that enable other team members to learn and extend Supporting the Engineering Manager/Tech Lead in setting the technical direction Providing technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced members of the team Supporting and driving continuous improvement of our production systems and being an advocate for the overall health of our systems Working with stakeholders to design high quality solutions that meet the needs of our users, including vendor platforms Becoming the subject matter expert for the Products and related systems owned by Media team We are looking for someone with: Advanced skills in designing solutions that scale and perform for millions of users. Advanced skills in developing long-term system architecture strategies. Expert skills in building full stack web products using open source and cloud technologies. Expert skills in one or more of our technical competencies - TypeScript/JavaScript Experience designing and using databases in RDBMS or MySQL Good data analysis skills (e.g. SQL/Tableau/Google BigQuery) Experience with modern software development techniques (e.g. functional programming, microservice architecture, test-driven development and CI/CD) Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders. Able to understand business, customer and consumer needs to provide appropriate data solutions. Able to mentor other engineers in a collaborative agile team environment. Someone passionate about data and the latest data technologies. Experience working in Media/AdTech industry is desired Bidding solutions, DSPs, SSPs, Tag Management, CDPs, as well as knowledge of targeting and creative setup used in media campaigns What we offer: A hybrid and flexible approach to working.
