Job Advert: SEMH Learning Support Assistant – Leyland
Start date: ASAP
Contract: Temporary to permanent
Are you passionate about making a difference in young lives? We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Leyland, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Role Overview: As an SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will provide targeted support to students with complex needs, helping them achieve their potential in a positive, nurturing environment. Your role will involve one-on-one and small group work, offering both educational and emotional support to ensure each student feels valued and encouraged.

Confident and professional: Capable of handling challenging situations calmly and with respect.
Sense of humour: Able to build rapport with students, creating an enjoyable and supportive environment.
Adaptable and resilient: Able to think on your feet and adjust to the varied needs of our students.
Role Requirements:
Previous experience supporting SEMH students (preferred).
Previous experience managing complex needs in children or adults, transferable into working in schools.
The ability to maintain professionalism while fostering strong, positive relationships with students.
Recruitment Process:
Initial interview and compliance checks: Managed by your dedicated consultant at Teaching Personnel.
Shadow session: Experience a morning or afternoon in the classroom to understand our environment and approach.
Temporary-to-Permanent Contract: Start with a 12-week trial to ensure the role is the right fit for you and the team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
