Secondary school Maths Teacher in Portsmouth

Are you passionate about mathematics and dedicated to inspiring young minds? An excellent opportunity awaits at a well-regarded secondary school in Portsmouth! Join a supportive team and make a difference in the lives of students through engaging and innovative teaching.

About the School

This Portsmouth-based secondary school, under a supportive and proactive leadership team, is on an ambitious journey of improvement. Recently recognised by Ofsted for its clear and focused leadership, the school is working closely with trust leaders to elevate educational standards and student outcomes. Leaders have a deep understanding of the school’s strengths and areas for growth, particularly focusing on improving behaviour and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.

The Ofsted report highlighted the school’s robust safeguarding processes, with thorough staff training and a proactive approach to student well-being. Staff understand their roles in safeguarding and have strong relationships with external agencies, providing additional support to vulnerable students when needed. Recent enhancements to the site’s security and support structures reflect a culture of putting pupils' welfare first.

Leaders are also implementing significant improvements in behaviour and SEND provision. New behaviour policies and enhanced pastoral support aim to help students focus on learning and improve classroom dynamics. A key area of focus is strengthening support for students with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), especially in younger year groups. Trust leaders are deeply involved, working closely with the school to identify and address students' specific needs from the outset to prevent disruptions and improve learning experiences for all students.
