Job Description
Abatec is recruiting for a freelance Design Engineer to join our client who is currently embarking on an exciting, heavy civil engineering project valued at £200 million. The project in North Wales is technically complex and challenging, involving the removal of existing pylons and the construction of two tunnels for electric cabling.
The successful candidate will have experience in a similar position having worked on heavy Civil Engineering projects.
As Design Engineer you will:
* Manage the Technical Queries (TQ) process. Assigning actions and follow up on responses.
* Manage and communicate all design queries, comments, and information required from Design workshops and meetings and keep records.
* Raise requests for further information (RFI’s) internally and externally from the whole project team.
* Support the Design Manager to ensure all design deliverables are provided as per the of design programmes.
* Review Designers reports and produce monthly reports on design progress and any other design-specific elements.
* Review all design deliverables and ensure that they are completed to the expected standard. Challenge and resolve when not, including reviewing all drawings in line with the client's Scope/requirements.
* Manage the BIM requirements for permanent and temporary works together with the BIM/CAD Technician.
* Assist the Lead TWC as design lead for temporary works design packages for the project and ensure the Temporary Works Process is implement and followed at all times.
Our client requires a Design Engineer with:
* Experience working on heavy Civil Engineering projects
* Both substantial construction and design experience
* An understanding of the Principal Designer duties
* Wide-ranging understanding and working knowledge of construction methods and outputs who can coach others
