Job Description
Position: Interim Mechanical Engineer
Location: North London
Rate: £315.00 per day (umbrella)
Contract: Interim
A North London local authority is currently seeking an experienced Interim Mechanical Engineer. This role offers a opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining the mechanical infrastructure of the community, ensuring efficiency, sustainability, and excellence in service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert mechanical engineering services, including the specification and design of new mechanical systems.
Inspect works, undertake fault-finding, and act as a contract administrator and project manager for mechanical projects.
Oversee the Council’s existing Heat Meter retrofit programme for communal and district heating systems.
Chair regular progress meetings with contractors and manage consultant relationships.
Produce comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and maintain detailed records.
Respond to resident enquiries and assist with the leaseholder Section 20 process.
Manage budgets, process contractor payment applications, and support the Council’s Strategy Team on Pre-payment systems.
Collaborate with various teams including New Build and Maintenance, assisting with heat meter enquiries, specifications, and procurement contracts.
Requirements:
Qualified as a Chartered Engineer or full member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers.
Extensive experience in managing retrofit and new build mechanical installations, communal heating, and low-carbon mechanical systems.
In-depth understanding of heat networks, metering, billing regulations, and local authority requirements.
Proven ability to design, manage, and oversee complex mechanical projects.
Strong technical knowledge and skills in heat meter data analysis and application.
