SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Hull
Salary: £83 - £96 per day (Depending on experience)
Contract type: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time
Start date: Immediate
The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their educational goals. This position involves working closely with students, teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will play a key role in ensuring that each child feels valued and supported in their educational journey.
Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:
Provide individual and group support to students with SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.
Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting materials and strategies to meet the specific needs of special educational needs students.
Track and report on the progress of students, identifying areas for improvement and celebrating their achievements.
Implement effective behaviour management strategies, promoting positive behaviour and addressing any challenges appropriately.
Offer emotional support and guidance to students, helping them to develop coping strategies and build resilience.
Maintain regular communication with teachers, parents and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting students.
SEN Teaching Assistant Job Requirements:
CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is highly desirable.
A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, or a similar support role in a classroom or school setting, is preferred.
Understanding of various Special Education Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
Patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to supporting students' growth.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
