Job Title: Steelworks Buyer / Procurement Buyer
Location: Bedfordshire

About the Role:
An established provider of structural and architectural steel solutions is seeking a Steelworks Buyer / Procurement Buyer to join its growing team. We welcome applications from candidates with a construction buying background, especially those experienced in mechanical, engineering, or sheet metal industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Management: Build and maintain relationships with reliable steel suppliers, ensuring high standards in quality, cost, and delivery.
Procurement Strategy: Develop purchasing strategies that meet project needs, budget constraints, and company objectives.
Negotiation: Lead contract and price negotiations to secure competitive rates and ensure a steady supply.
Inventory Management: Coordinate with project managers to forecast material needs, preventing delays.
Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality control to ensure materials meet all technical and regulatory specifications.
Cost Optimisation: Track market trends and steel pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Documentation: Keep accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications for compliance and auditing. Requirements:
Proven experience as a Buyer, ideally in steel, construction, or engineering sectors.
Strong knowledge of steel grades, specifications, and sourcing strategies.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with procurement software and systems, with keen attention to documentation detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines. Benefits:
