Reports directly to: Legal & Compliance Director – Legal & Regulatory, Trade Sanctions & Export Control
The position aims at supporting the Legal & Compliance Director in legal and regulatory matters related to ethics & compliance, particularly:
- Providing support for the development, implementation, and monitoring of a compliance program dedicated to international trade sanctions and export control matters, including appropriate training deployment worldwide.
- Assisting the Legal & Compliance Director in providing support to business teams and functions in international trade sanctions and export control worldwide.
- Monitoring the international trade sanctions and export control legal framework.
- Supporting the central coordination and overview of E&C Litigation and arbitration cases, along with regular reporting to management and statutory auditors as part of Alstom's financial review.
Depending on workload and team profiles, the candidate may also support other areas as reviewed by the Chief Compliance Officer.
Experience prerequisites & required competences
Mandatory:
Graduate Law degree (Master 2 level equivalent).
- MBA.
- Bar Membership and private practice experience in litigation, ideally with advanced awareness of white-collar crime regulations.
Experience
Mandatory:
- Previous experience in trade sanctions and/or export control matters in an international company, with a real interest in compliance-related matters.
- 5-7 years+ of experience in the legal field.
- Previous positions in an international business environment.
- Excellent English language skills; fluent in French.
- Open-minded, problem-solving, tactful, and intellectually flexible.
- Ability to understand and handle complex legal and compliance issues.
- Strong risk analysis and reasoning abilities.
- Eager to keep legal knowledge up-to-date with international developments and translate this knowledge into applicable compliance policies.
- Willingness to take initiatives, responsibilities, and challenge others.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to develop a role model for others in a domain where the “tone from the top” is crucial.
- Ability to interact well with peers at headquarters, country, or regional level.
