Operations Engineer, Civil Engineer, Structural Engineer

Your new company Hays are working in collaboration with our client to recruit an Operations Engineer for their operations in Fermanagh and nearby regions. Our client is committed to managing, developing, and promoting inland waterways. Their main goals are to enhance public enjoyment, preserve heritage, and encourage recreational activities like boating, cycling, and walking along the waterways. They play a crucial role in promoting outdoor recreation and protecting the natural and cultural heritage of these waterways.
Your new role As an Operations Engineer, you will oversee the full operation in a designated area required.
The successful applicant will be required to manage operational staff and consultants / contractors working on the property for implementation of new or refurbishment projects. You will also liaise with user groups for facilitation of events, and work in partnership with third parties and local interests to manage and develop the canals for increased recreational use. The successful candidate for the Engineering role will be an integral member of the operational management team.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the management, maintenance, and recreational and commercial use of infrastructure.
  • Manage operational staff, as well as consultants and contractors engaged in new projects or refurbishments.
  • Coordinate with user groups to facilitate events
  • Collaborate with third parties and local stakeholders to develop the waterways for greater recreational use.
  • The successful applicant will join the Emergency Response Team and will be required to provide out-of-office services on a rotational basis, with supplemental pay.
  • This role requires travelling to different counties in Northern Ireland as well as in the Republic of Ireland.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful for the Operations Engineering role, you must have the following qualifications and skills:
Bachelors Degree in Civil or Structural EngineeringHold a current driving licence and have access to transport which will permit travel throughout IrelandEnsure that you can effectively supervise works spread over a wide area.Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writingUnderstanding health, safety and welfare issues associated with construction and maintenance workHave 2 years post-qualification experience of working in an operation and maintenance environment.Possess an understanding of the environmental issues involved in the development of waterways.Possess an understanding of the issues involved in working across two jurisdictions, the UK and Ireland.
