Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Section Engineer to join our team at Heysham 2 Nuclear Power Station, the successful candidate will be leading a site team of labour/staff during maintenance, outage and projects activities and to co-ordinate sub contractors to execute site activities/ work scope in a safe manner, within programme, to the required quality standards and in a cost effective way.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications

Technical Apprenticeship and/or ONC (equivalent) in technical subject.

CCNSG Safety Passport Training or IOSH Managing Safely Certificate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant HNC/Degree qualification
  • ECITB Project Management Course
  • ECITB SMTDS/NVQ 3/4

Experience

  • Sufficient and appropriate experience as a Section Engineer.
  • Significant and appropriate experience in Mechanical & Process Industry Sector.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge & understanding of the legal, practical and company safety requirements.
  • Ability to co-ordinate and manage all site activities involving direct labour and subcontractors to ensure the level of performance and productivity to that required under contract.
  • Knowledge and application of the company and client quality procedures.
  • Knowledge of technical requirements to carry out work scope of contract.
  • Ability to manage and resolve all industrial and employee relation issues.
  • Communication skills to liaise with section engineers and subcontract supervision all aspects of information required to carry out site activities e.g. method statements and interface awareness.
  • Ability to plan, organise, monitor and if necessary take corrective action to fulfil contractual requirements & achieve appropriate financial returns.
  • Appreciation of the company IT, commercial, planning systems and their application.

KEY DUTIES

  • Drive site performance and productivity.
  • Coach and mentor members of the team, assist Site Manager with staff appraisals as required.
  • Continuously reinforce Focus2Zero message for all site activities including error traps and Focus2Zero Error Prevention Tools.
  • Regular review of operations against programme
  • Manage Section Engineers and Supervision.
  • Resource management to programme requirements
  • Safety audit and monitoring
  • Adhere to company procedures for safety, quality, commercial etc.
  • Full engagement with Improvement Observation process.
  • Sharing of lessons learned and best practices via IQ process.
  • Full engagement with requirements of OMP Process.
  • Use of Cyclops system to review SQEP information of member of the site team as required.
  • Ensure that post job assessments are carried out for all personnel in line with event completion dates.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Satisfactory completion and maintenance of “Professional Development Record” (PDR)
  • To ensure that all site operations are carried out in a safe manner free of risk to all of the workforce and subcontractors.
  • To ensure that all site activities involving direct labour and subcontractors is managed and co-ordinated to achieve the required level of productivity.
  • To ensure all site activities are carried out to the required company and client quality procedures.
  • To ensure management of section engineers and subcontractor to fulfil the technical requirements for the works carried out under contract.
  • To ensure that any Employee or Industrial relation problems are managed and resolved within company procedure.
  • To ensure that all relevant information regarding site activities is fed to section engineers and subcontractors.
  • To ensure any corrective actions take place to fulfil contractual requirements and achieve appropriate financial returns.
  • To ensure all actions follow all company IT, commercial, planning systems.
