Project Engineer (Senior Authorised Person)
Permanent, Fulltime

£76k p/a + company bonus + car
This Project Engineer (Senior Authorised Person) role reports to the Lead Field Engineer.

Job Purpose:
You will oversee and deliver projects in the UK defence sector, covering capital programs and electrical infrastructure works. The role includes managing the operation and maintenance of 33kV/11kV/400V private network contracts. While your core projects will be based in Hampshire and Wiltshire, there may be opportunities to work on other similar projects across the UK.
As an experienced 33kV Operational Project Engineer, you will support the team with 33kV engineering, providing cover for standby and emergency situations involving electrical distribution equipment and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and ensure safety management across all project areas.
* Oversee the delivery of construction, maintenance, and fault works, ensuring time, cost, and quality targets are met.
* Ensure compliance with all procedures and maintain high-quality standards.
* Daily planning and coordination of resources to ensure efficient use.
* Submit HV/LV switching schedules and complete HV/LV network operations following relevant safety rules.
* Provide technical support to field staff.
* Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements for safe project delivery.
* Conduct quality assurance checks and resolve any issues identified.
* Manage relationships with customers to meet their expectations.
* Provide out-of-hours safety and emergency response (standby).
* Manage contractors handling high and low voltage maintenance activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Senior Authorised Person status up to and including 33kV.
* HNC in Electrical Engineering.
* Experience working with distribution systems from 400V to 33kV.
* Strong customer focus, ensuring projects meet expectations.
* Effective team player who promotes collaboration.
* Ability to secure full Ministry of Defence security clearance.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to manage a varied workload independently.
* Strong communication skills at all levels.
* Experience using Microsoft Office, Outlook, MS Project, and other software.
* A solid understanding of Health and Safety regulations, CDM standards, and safe working practices.
* Valid full driving licence.
Please note: Candidates working towards full SAP status may also be considered for a lower salary scale with a clear progression plan.
