Senior Laboratory Analyst / Team Leader
Hours of 12.00pm - 8.00pm Monday to Friday
Permanent
Up to £30,000 depending on experience
Based in St Helens
We're looking for a hands-on Senior Laboratory Analyst who is looking for progression to Team Leader to lead our client's Chemistry testing lab. This role involves managing staff, overseeing daily lab operations, and ensuring quality and efficiency, all while maintaining high standards and meeting deadlines.
The hours of work reflect the need to have coverage in the laboratory up to 8.00pm but that also means a later start of 12.00pm. This role will overlap with other members of the Analytical team to provide coverage at key times.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and manage lab workloads, prioritising tasks to meet turnaround times.
• Perform and oversee sample processing in line with ISO 17025:2017 standards.
• Conduct daily checks on lab equipment and ensure proper maintenance.
• Validate and check analysis results, updating records and guiding corrective actions when needed.
• Uphold health and safety standards and maintain a tidy, organized workspace.
• Use laboratory equipment and the LIMS system for accurate data management.
• Liaise with the Operations Manager to report updates and ensure clear communication.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (preferred, not required).
• Minimum 3 years of lab experience in a Supervisory or Senior Laboratory Analyst role.
• Experience in techniques such as Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AA), ICP, and Combustion Ion Chromatography (C-IC) would be highly desirable however candidates with Supervisory skills who are willing to learn will also be considered.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with LIMS is a plus.
