Job Description

One of our global multi-disciplinary consultancies in Edinburgh has contacted Peace Recruitment to support their search for a chartered Senior or Associate Quantity Surveyor.


You can expect to work on a variety of Projects including; high-end residential developments, Education, Healthcare, Ports and Marine, commercial developments, retail and a variety of frameworks. Our client has projects that will see you delivering from inception to final account, you will be involved in supporting junior members of the team, networking, strategic support and stakeholder management.


Our client would ideally like the ideal candidate to have the following attributes:


Project Management & Delivery

  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that client requirements are met within the allocated budget and schedule.
  • Develop cost management plans and oversee project cost forecasts, tracking, and reporting.
  • Conduct risk assessments and mitigation planning to address potential project risks.

Cost Planning & Estimating

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and provide accurate cost advice to clients at different project stages, from feasibility to completion.
  • Conduct cost analysis for repair and maintenance projects, helping clients make cost-effective decisions.
  • Perform value engineering exercises to optimise project costs and enhance value for clients.

Procurement & Contract Management

  • Lead the procurement process, including advising on suitable procurement routes, tendering, and evaluating contractor proposals.
  • Prepare and administer contract documents, ensuring compliance with legal standards and best practices.
  • Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to secure favourable terms and resolve disputes.

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, addressing any concerns and providing updates on project status.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships to secure repeat business and identify opportunities for new services.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to stakeholders, including senior management and clients.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Manage a team of junior and assistant quantity surveyors, providing mentorship and supporting their professional development.
  • Oversee and review work carried out by junior team members to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Contribute to performance reviews, training programs, and recruitment initiatives.

Compliance & Best Practices

  • Ensure that all quantity surveying activities comply with local regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, incorporating innovative approaches to improve service delivery.
  • Promote and support sustainability initiatives, integrating sustainable practices into the cost management processes.

Reporting & Financial Analysis

  • Prepare financial reports, cash flow forecasts, and budget analyses for project stakeholders.
  • Support project profitability through regular cost monitoring and early identification of any budget overruns.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation and bid submission.
