Job Summary
As Land Manager, you will be responsible for securing ancillary land rights across Scotland (and potentially rest of UK). For the right person, this is thus an exciting opportunity with the potential to grow within the renewables industry in general and project development in particular. You will have a variety of tasks in the office as well as being out in the field negotiating contracts and building relationships, whilst representing the company.
With reference to the UK Head of Development, you will be trained on the company’s operating procedures and in use of relevant software and assessing and reporting methods. It will be an advantage to have experience as a land rights negotiator for Wind and Solar Projects, but candidates with experience securing land rights for other large-scale infrastructure projects will also be considered for the position.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify, design and negotiate land rights for component delivery routes (e.g. wind turbines) and grid connection routes, incl. overrun / oversail agreements
- Implement option to lease agreements, servitude agreements, wayleave agreements, and any other property related agreements
- Carry out record of condition surveys
- Provide financial and contractual input to Financial Investment Decisions and other commercial decisions, ensuring best value is achieved
- Land referencing and reporting of information using the Land Registry
- Liaise with external stakeholders (e.g. planning authorities, statutory consultees, landowners, solicitors, land agents, grid network operators) where required
- Report and managing several projects at one time, in the development phase as well as under construction (for clarification and the resolution of misunderstandings, disputes etc.)
Skills and Experience:
- You are well-versed in reading and understanding legal documents and can demonstrate min. a couple of years’ experience in contract negotiation within the areas of land, rural surveying or commercial property
- You have an analytical and structured approach to the tasks and excel in problem-solving under pressure
- You are good at putting yourself in the place of others, are solution-oriented and understand the dynamics happening between different parties and interests
- You are good in IT with experience in Microsoft office
- You take pride in your work, are highly motivated and able to work independently and within a team.
