Ocean Freight Export Supervisor


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all shipment-level communication between Hellmann and all customers, carriers, and vendors
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with all applicable internal and external standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Acts as senior product subject matter expert when communicating with internal and external parties.
  • Manages and addresses all escalations regarding file profitability - audits and identifies files with loss or low margin and works with team members to determine root cause and implement corrective action.
  • Measures employee performance and provides regular informal and formal feedback within area of responsibility; analyzes and improves external or internal KPIs for area of responsibility.
  • Processes shipments in compliance with company standard operating procedures, while complying with customer and regulatory requirements (i.e., Hellmann policies, OBL, Letter of Credit, Cert. of Origin…etc.)
  • Manages staffing levels based on business development, peak volume periods, department performance metrics, and employee vacations as well as assists management by proactively providing input on talent acquisition, re-assignment, demotion, and promotion.


Skills And Experiences

  • Associate degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or equivalent work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Ocean Import field.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred, or 1-2 years of team lead or import training experience.
