Data Centre Facility Manager (Engineering Operations) AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The Engineering Operations Facility Manager (AWS Data Centre) is responsible for the management of all aspects of the performance of the data centre infrastructure within a specific location. The role requires a driven, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems. Key job responsibilities The successful candidate will be accountable for: · Setting and maintaining the highest standard for safety and actively promoting a world-class safety culture · The key performance metrics for a significant number of large scale Data Centres distributed across multiple AWS owned and Co-location sites (hosted by 3rd party service providers.) by continuously driving improvements while delivering performance against said metrics · Delivering 100% uptime on all customer supporting infrastructure · Strategic planning and execution of all corrective and preventative maintenance activities on all mission-critical infrastructure · Managing strong technical teams with responsibility for the training and/or development of others to ensure operational excellence and career development · Successful delivery of strategic projects on critical infrastructure · Successful delivery of build-out and retrofit of facility infrastructure in existing and new regional locations · Managing vendor performance by consistently setting high standards, driving accountability and conducting regular performance reviews · Risk Management: adopt and plan corporate risk strategy. · Critical Event Response readiness (planning, escalation/incident management, customer impacting event management response and recovery.) · Experience in working and managing within complex organizational matrix, manage and grow relationships between cross-functional teams. When we feel supported in the workplace and at home, there’s nothing we can’t achieve in the cloud. · Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant Engineering discipline or demonstrable equivalent (lesser qualification equivalent work experience.) · 5 years’ experience in a high-volume mission-critical operational environment (eg. data center, healthcare, high technology manufacturing, large scale production, aviation maintenance) preferably 7x24x365 operational experience & responsibilities; · First-hand knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, employee relations, leadership techniques, operational performance, and coordination of people and resources; · Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; · Full EU/ IT driving license. · 10 years relevant industry related experience · Demonstrate key electrical and mechanical competencies and theory. · Know and apply safe electrical practice according to guidelines set by relevant electrical safety supervisory bodies. · Have a strong working knowledge and experience of the purpose and infrastructure of a Data Center. In-depth knowledge of UPS, backup generator systems and generic mechanical-room infrastructure such as chillers, Cooler Units, and fan controls · Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout (copper / fibre) as well as low / high voltage (copper/ fibre) cabling, BMS Systems, Monitoring and alarming systems Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
