Role Overview:

As the Lead Development Chemist at Skuu, you will be responsible for driving product innovation, overseeing formulation, and ensuring successful scale-up of skincare products. You will be working closely with our in-house development chemists and lab technicians, utilising our extensive library of formulations and contributing to the launch of new brands that align with Skuu’s quality standards. Your role will involve collaboration across departments, from R&D to production, to ensure seamless transitions from concept to commercialization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a small team of development chemists and lab technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• Oversee the entire product development process, from concept formulation to product testing and regulatory compliance.
• Manage the scale-up process, ensuring formulations maintain consistency and performance as they progress from lab to production.
• Drive innovation in skincare formulations, working with unique and emerging active ingredients to create market-leading products.
• Work closely with production and quality assurance teams to troubleshoot formulation issues, optimise processes, and maintain product quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on brand development, providing technical insights and ensuring timely product launches.
• Stay informed on industry trends, raw material developments, and regulatory changes to keep Skuu at the forefront of skincare technology.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in skincare or cosmetic formulation, with a proven track record of scaling formulations to production.
• Strong knowledge of cosmetic regulations, stability testing, and formulation best practices.
• Proven leadership skills, with experience managing or mentoring a team.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments to drive projects from concept to market.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for innovative, high-quality skincare products.
