Civils Works Project Manager

Role Purpose:
The role of the Civil Works Project Manager is to manage different parts of construction projects, supervising crew members, preparing estimates for time and material costs, completing quality assurance, observing health and safety standards and ensuring these are upheld, and compiling reports for different stakeholders.
The project involves the design, construction, finance, and 25 years operation of the New Velindre Cancer Centre which will be situated on a greenfield site, owned by the Trust, at Whitchurch, North Cardiff. The project is being procured through the Welsh Government's Mutual Investment Model ("MIM") which is a specific model for procuring public private partnerships in Wales.
This is a super opportunity to join an innovative and successful project development team. We look for a suitably qualified engineer eager to daily challenges, truly committed to the highest standards of construction delivery, with interest in the wider aspects of project development such as community benefits and who can develop lasting relationships with multiple parties.
Responsibilities:
* Support the ProjectCo General Manager and Construction Director
* Work with Trust, stakeholders and local community
* Work with design team, construction team and hard FM team
* Work with ProjectCo specialists and experts through construction
* Oversight of program for design, construction, and commissioning activity for the works, ensuring quality of work and a safe site.
* Responsible for assisting the Construction Director in the execution of all tasks directly related to project monitoring and construction execution related with his area of knowledge.
* Secure the accuracy and compliance of the project and the construction with the Employer requirements, standards and regulations.
* A focus on the monitoring of the sustainability aspects of the project such as the delivery of a BREEAM excellent hospital
* Monitoring of energy solution and achievement of the design & construction energy target (DCET)
* Monitor BIM process as described in the BIM protocol and BIM execution plan
* Support CD / lender technical adviser liaison support
* Additional duties associated with the role as determined by management.
* Open mindset to evolve in the position from general Civil Works to specific tasks in the later stages of the project.
The Candidate:
* Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
* At least 5 years experience in a similar role including Healthcare, buildings and or technical construction experience
OR:
* At least 10 years’ experience in a similar role including Healthcare experience.
AND:
* Enthusiastic and able to work in a small team with ProjectCo General Manager and Construction Director
* Health building and/or technical construction experience
* Based on construction site
* Work with and overseeing the Construction team
* Desk working at the early stages and Hot desk/hybrid working at the operational phase.
* Cardiff based or local to Cardiff
* Ability to implement a community benefits programme and manage the project website
Desirable Criteria:
* PPP experience
* First aid qualification
* Knowledge of the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
* Commitment to become involved with local community interaction and community benefits
* CSCS card
