Dutton Recruitment (Sheffield Engineering) are currently recruiting:
We are looking for a Small Works Estimator for a client based in the Bedfordshire area.
Salary is between £35,000 and £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our client's team.
Ideally, the successful candidate will be based within commutable distance of the Luton/Kent areas and must have own transport and full UK Driving Licence.
The Estimator will play a crucial role in assessing project costs, preparing detailed estimates, and ensuring that all financial aspects align with project requirements. This position is essential for maintaining budgetary control and supporting the overall success of our projects.
Responsibilities:
Estimation of small works projects and facilities management PPM bids up to a value of £100k.
Evaluate and clearly understand the details and requirements for each estimate, attend site visits where necessary and undertake comprehensive review surveys.
Collating mechanical, electrical and plumbing services on multi-service bids.
Compilation of a schedule of rates/bill of quantities.
Onsite liaison with client/customer undertaking the relevant site survey and review.
Communicating with client and customer base, ensuring all requirements are met/mitigated to their satisfaction.
Evaluation of potential project risk on both commercial and deliverable aspects.
Gather, analyse, and adjust data related to labour, materials, equipment, and other factors affecting cost estimates.
Filing system integration, continuing to build clear decisive file structure for transparency in handover to Small Works Manager.
Ensuring tender submissions are comprehensively reviewed and qualified correctly.
Regular review & evolution of the company's estimating documentation making sure this is up to date with rates.
Bi-Weekly team meetings and tender reports.
Generation and issue of handover documentation for secured projects ahead of meetings with the Small Works team.SKILLS REQUIRED:
Ideally, come from an Estimating background within Facilities Management
Proven time management organisational skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
Ability to quickly assess the requirement, and then change depending on the information provided
Self-starter and ability to operate and excellent communication at all levels (from Site Level to Senior Management)
Knowledge of direct labour resources within the FM platform and associated labour costings
Experience in presenting tenders to clients
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Excel/Word & Outlook)
Strong understanding of both the residential and commercial construction sectors
The ability to read tender specifications, drawings and produce detailed pricing cost plans
The ability to self-manage time and workloads and multitask various projects sequentially
Experience in a similar position
