Linear Recruitment are working with a Tier 1 main contractor who thrive to connect people through fixed-line and mobile telecoms infrastructure, ensuring seamless communication and access to information. Due to explained growth, they are looking for a Commercial Manager to join the team in Warrington.
Job description
Implement commercial strategy in accordance with the latest company requirements whilst providing support to the commercial team ensuring compliance with contractual requirements. Ensure that jobs are delivered in accordance with contractual terms and in the most cost-effective manner possible to maximise profitability for the business.
Management of Commercial Team
• Carry out recruitment and selection of the Commercial team
• Provide assistance, support and guidance on all commercial issues within the project and ensure that commercial staff attain their maximum potential
• Develop and expand the commercial knowledge of the commercial team
• Provide contractual advice during the tendering and/or final account process
• Identify improvements to commercial procedures
• Manage the monthly commercial audit process
• Manage mediation / adjudication claims
• Ensure the subcontract process is administered correctly to protect the company
Reporting
• Complete monthly review of contract results and performance
• Manage CVRs on a monthly basis to satisfy the requirements of the company
and provide any other reports which may be required
• Monitor and report on Work in Progress
• Management of budget reviews and cost to complete forecasts
Valuation & Cash collection
• Ensure all Application for Payment / Final Accounts valuations are progressed in a timely manner as per company expectation, or in accordance with customer SLAs
• Maximise monthly valuations
• Assist with Application for Payment / Final Account negotiations and settlements when required
• Manage the Compensation Event / Variation process including timely submission with cost information
Audits & Governance
• Ensure full compliance with company commercial procedures and corporate governance requirements
• Carry out audits on regional contracts
Key measures & targets
• Timely and accurate Final Accounting / Valuations
• Contract margin
• WIP reduction
• Management of project specific risks
Key Relationships
• Commercial Director
• Project Director
• Snr / Quantity Surveyors and commercial team
• Delivery Managers and delivery team
Qualifications
* Excellent team player whilst also having the ability to work independently
* Excellent time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines
* Ability to solve problems efficiently
* Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
* Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
* Self-motivated and pro-active
* Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to manage and encourage junior members of the Commercial Team
* Evidence new ways of thinking which deliver benefits
Additional information
* Telecoms industry experience essential
* Familiar with various forms of contract (NEC / JCT / Bespoke)
* Ability to understand contract & project requirements
* Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing meetings
Accomplished in outlook, excel and proficient in the rest of the Microsoft suite of packages
