Cost Specialist (1 Year Contract)

Our client, a leader in the industrial sector, is seeking a detail-oriented Project Cost Specialist to join their finance team on a 1 year term. This role involves close collaboration with the maintenance team to manage and oversee project costs from planning through to completion. Key Responsibilities : Collaborate closely with the maintenance team and project managers to record and track all project-related costs, including purchase orders, forecasts, inventory, and other expenditures. Conduct monthly cost reviews to identify and report budget variances. Support project planning by providing accurate cost forecasts and regular budget updates. Attend project meetings to communicate cost updates, schedule changes, and forecasts. Coordinate the processing of purchase orders, change orders, and vendor invoices to keep projects on track. Review contractor invoices, monitor expenses, and handle monthly accruals. Propose improvements to existing financial controls and systems for enhanced cost management. Assist with project close-out tasks and respond to ad hoc financial and project-related requests. Qualifications : Diploma or degree in business, finance, or a related field. Experience in project cost management; knowledge of enterprise systems like JD Edwards is an asset. Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and a solid understanding of financial controls and cost tracking. Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and function well within a team. Familiarity with procurement processes and contract management is a plus.
