Job Description
Summary of the Role The Project Manager is responsible for the management of the cost, schedule, scope and technical performance of a portfolio of Whiteshell Laboratories (WL) Closure Project, as defined in the project performance baseline and is accountable to the Senior Project Manager, WL D&D. The Project Manager ensures that WL Closure project work is performed safely and in compliance with requirements of the Site Licence, QA Program and Facility Authority. The Project Manager will proactively manage the personnel performing the scope of work, and implement project management including responsibility to plan, control and monitor the execution of all project work. They will provide detailed reporting and communication on project status, with emphasis on resolving issues and correcting variances to plans. The Project Manager will hold budget responsibility for work ranging from $2M to $20M annually and approximately 4 to 10 direct reporting staff. They will ensure appropriate execution of the WL Closure contract and oversee management of contracts to deliver Projects. CNL Employees perform all duties in accordance with established health and safety and regulations/guidelines, policies, and procedures (i.e. utilizing personal protective equipment as per safe work procedures). Notifies management or supervisor of all occurrences, injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co-workers or any other on the premises in a timely manner and in accordance with established reporting requirements The work will be 40 hours per week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Hours are to be between 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On-site work at Whiteshell, Manitoba Abilities and Skills The incumbent should have: · Must have demonstrated strong leadership skills, to support and articulate the organizations’ vision/mission at all levels, and have a proven ability to achieve results through others. · Ability to coordinate time with multiple issues and Projects. · Good understanding of change management concepts. · The Project Manager has broad knowledge of and commitment to CNL’s corporate objectives, policies and procedures, and a strong sense of the prevailing industry and regulatory culture. · Initiative and judgement to organize and maintain flow of work and accuracy of records; · Must be punctual, dependable and safety minded; · Detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines; · Exceptional organizational skills, able to prioritize and time management is required; · Ability to understand detailed information is essential; · Demonstrates responsibility and is accountable for accurately handling the details associated with one’s work; · Conscientious about accuracy; · Ability to adapt to a changing environment and response with initiative; · Excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to maintain successful working relations at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders; and · Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. · Able to work extended hours and off normal work shifts to support project needs Functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Planning and Execution · The Project Manager will proactively manage the personnel performing the scope of work, and implement project management including responsibility to plan, control and monitor the execution of all project work. They will ensure appropriate execution of the WL Closure contract and oversee management of contracts to deliver Projects. · Manage the cost, schedule, scope and technical performance of a portfolio of Whiteshell Laboratories (WL) Closure Project, as defined in the project performance baseline. ·Responsible for applying the WL Decommissioning QA Program requirements, and its supporting procedures in project activities. · Implement project management including responsibility to plan, control and monitor the execution of all project work. · Provide exceptional reporting and communication on project status, with emphasis on resolving issues and correcting variances to plans. · Initiate and maintain productive relationships with internal service providers (e.g., Skilled Trades, Engineering, Radiation Protection, Strategic Planning, Nuclear Facilities, Procurement, and compliance/regulatory programs). · Ensure appropriate execution of the WL Closure contract and oversee management of contracts to deliver Projects.
