We are experiencing exponential growth in our presence in Canada. In 1998, it was awarded for the construction, operation, and maintenance project for the Fredericton-Moncton Highway. In 2011, it was awarded a section of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway extension, the first modern subway infrastructure project in the city. This project was completed in 2018. FCC Construcción Canadá has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line, together with the GO Rail Expansion-On Corridor Project and the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rail and Systems Project reinforces FCC Construcción’s presence in the Canadian market. Project Opportunity The role of the Stations Design Manager (Pape) involves overseeing the design management of underground stations throughout their lifecycle, from the initial design phase to the construction stage. Reports to: Technical Lead The Stations Design Manager (Pape) key responsibilities are: Oversee the successful delivery of project-related design activities across various disciplines, ensuring compliance with project schedules and budgets. Manage design, integration, and interface management, providing clear direction to project engineering teams to meet specified technical requirements and schedules. Develop and maintain design management plans and the requirements traceability matrix, leading the preparation of Interface Control Documents. Ensure compliance with contractual requirements at all stages of the project, including design, integration, and validation of temporary works and staging Responsible for construction strategies and management of building permits submission to the authorities as needed Facilitate communication and collaboration between all disciplines and the temporary works designer to ensure seamless integration. Assess design changes for impacts on schedule, costs, requirements, and interfaces, providing informed recommendations. Interface with project teams to determine schedules, monitor design progress, support systems integration, and coordinate handovers between disciplines, testing, and commissioning activities. Carry out all engineering administration in accordance with company policies and procedures. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or architecture, or any related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in design management, focused on underground stations or similar infrastructure projects. Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Primavera P6, MP) Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities. Experience with project management tools and methodologies is a plus. Outstanding leadership and organizational skills with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project, and technical issues to bring the project to successful completion. A proven track record of project leadership, success, and team collaboration. JOB REQUIREMENTS Proficient in overseeing the design process for underground stations, from initial concept through to final construction. This includes ensuring that all design elements align with project goals, regulations, and stakeholder requirements, leading to successful project outcomes. Effectively communicates complex design concepts and requirements to a diverse range of stakeholders, including transit authorities, city planners, contractors, and community groups. Adept at creating and managing comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports. This ensures clarity and consistency in design intentions and provides a solid foundation for construction activities. Proven experience in deep underground station design. Proven experience in design of interchange stations with existing subway systems. Previous experience working with TTC. Possesses a strong understanding of industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental considerations related to underground station design.
