On behalf of our EPC client, Petroplan is seeking a Principle Electrical Engineer to provide technical and organisational leadership across diverse projects, from studies and design to troubleshooting, commissioning, and decommissioning.
This is a Permanent position, based in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Operating a SmartWorking policy allowing personnel to work for up to 12 working days/month from home or a similar secure location.
Job Overview;
As a Principle Electrical Engineer, you will lead global engineering projects and studies, supervising teams and project schedules. You will coordinate and oversee multidiscipline interfaces, technical standards and procedures, and develop new ones as required.
Job Purpose:
- Lead electrical engineering projects, ensuring technical standards, project schedules, and safety requirements are met, while managing design teams and multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Perform engineering tasks for electrical systems, including design, troubleshooting, and improvement, and oversee site visits and coordination with global offices.
- Develop, review, and improve technical standards, procedures, and estimates to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with current legislation.
- Prepare man-hour estimates, plan project activities, and evaluate the impact of new legislation on plant design and performance
Job Requirements;
- Extensive experience in electrical engineering and team leadership within Oil & Gas, especially in Upstream Engineering, with involvement in Concept, Basic/FEED, and Detail Engineering for onshore and offshore projects.
- Strong technical expertise in power system studies (e.g., load flow, short circuit, motor starting analysis), power distribution design, electrical equipment specifications (MCCs, MV/LV switchboards, generators, transformers, VSDs, UPS), and layouts for substations, switch rooms, and plants.
- Proficient in preparing requisitions and technical appraisals for electrical equipment, conducting electrical surveys for O&G plants, and ensuring compliance with IEC and other international standards.
- Skilled in using ETAP for electrical analysis, with excellent English proficiency for technical presentations; desirable skills include offshore certification, experience with Floating Units.
- Bachelor's degree within the Electrical Engineering field or a BA in Science with a focus in Electrical Engineering; MEng desirable.
- Member of a relevant Institution; Chartered Engineer desirable.
