Job Description

Purpose of Role The Customs Import & Export Control Specialist will plan, direct, and coordinate packing and shipping operations. The primary responsibilities include effectively and efficiently managing daily operations, overseeing customs and duties, and planning the distribution of outgoing goods. The goal is to ensure the smooth operation of various processes that contribute to the efficient distribution of goods. Key Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to a competent level. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Process and Development: Follow up on USMCA certificates. Develop, implement, and update the process workflow. Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment. Act as a liaison with forwarding agents. Ensure all documents for customs clearance and finance are dispatched in a timely manner. Ensure all delivery dates remain updated and accurate in the system at all times. Utilize appropriate safety and environmental procedures for materials, products, and equipment to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and other employees. Trade Compliance Management: Monitor legislation and regulations to ensure compliance with federal and international laws (Canada – CERS reporting through CBCA portal and maintaining Condair US surety bond renewal). Work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and third parties to ensure that products are legally imported and exported. Monitor international trade news and political developments that could impact the company’s operations. Liaise with CBSA and US Border Protection to resolve any issues or concerns with shipments. Responsible for the export classification and customs import classification of Condair products. Handle registration and obtain export certification documents through the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. Review and maintain Condair’s annual Blanket USMCA certificate. Prepare regulatory documents when required, such as AD-CVD anti-dumping certificates (USA) and Council Regulation certificates (Russia/Ukraine). Train personnel on export/import obligations where possible. Oversee US Border Protection audits. Logistics Management: Direct the flow of Condair’s materials and products inbound and outbound for Racine, Condair Operations, and Condair Principal. Provide support, consultation, and assistance in creating new supply chains. Manage and coordinate reverse logistics for CSP. Coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of the company’s logistics operations run smoothly. Establish relationships with supply chain providers to ensure they deliver high-quality products and services at competitive prices. Provide sales and purchasing with logistics quotations for all modes of transport as well as customs duty impact where applicable. Adhere to the company’s Quality Assurance System and Health and Safety policies. Other duties as assigned by management. Professional Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies: Education and Experience: Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in logistics with recent experience managing operations within shipping and receiving, warehousing, and distribution functions. Post-secondary education in General Business, Administration, or Transportation is an asset. Language Skills: Superior communication skills in English, both written and oral. Ability to Reason: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work, set targets, and make decision. Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office programs. Experience with SAP is an asset. Certificates/Licenses: CCS Designation certified and/or CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) certification is preferred. APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) is an asset. Other: Must have initiative, be self-motivated, and work with minimal direction. Ability to work accurately and methodically under pressure.
