Job Description

As Senior Estimator / Project Manager you will be a respected member of the Leadership team, managing heavy civil construction projects within Saskatchewan, and experiencing the remuneration and advancement opportunities that accompany organizational growth Based in Saskatoon and working at sites within Saskatchewan, your role will involve organizing and coordinating heavy civil construction, water and sewer construction, earth moving project activities and civil works. As Senior Estimator/Project Manager responsible for supporting the planning, acquisition and execution of projects, you will: a) Prepare accurate project cost estimates, develop proposals, respond to RFP’s and other business development activities. Demonstrate excellent knowledge of costs and cost control for civil projects b) Oversee and manage all elements of project management Including issuance of project RFP’s, tenders, budgets, cash flows and progress invoicing. c) Maintain tracking logs for purchase requisitions, project scope changes, RFI’s and change orders. d) Coordinate the material requisition process and assist in material take-offs and tracking. e) Direct work and track the progress and quality of work being performed by subcontractors, suppliers and field trades. Provide leadership and facilitation, negotiation and problem-solving support as required to resolve issues, build consensus and align activities to accomplish project goals. f) Monitor and ensure timely information, progress updates and communication is ongoing at all times. Continually look for enhancements in the quality and profitability of each project. g) Maintain and demonstrate strong technical and professional knowledge. Manage both internal and external client expectations to ensure successful outcomes. As the successful applicant, you will bring: EDUCATION : Either an Engineering Degree, Technical Diploma or Journeyperson Certificate from a recognized institution an asset. EXPERIENCE: At least 3-5 years’ experience in Estimating / Project Management role in the construction field . Experience in heavy civil Construction, earthmoving, water and sewer construction or related field is required. Basic knowledge of financial management, technology management, and internal controls. Ability to complete safety documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Knowledgeable in creating and editing project documents, materials, and presentations. Proficient in Microsoft office Programs DESIRED ATTRIBUTES: Demonstrated leadership and project management skills. Able to effectively communicate with all staff, including technical, professional, and senior management. Strong relationship building skills with clients, vendors and suppliers. Flexible to asses and adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills. Commitment to relevant policies, procedures and strategies to promote employee safety and optimum performance. Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills, with the ability to handle a fast paced and at times, pressured environment. Comfortable in managing cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary resource allocation. For this role, it will involve remote work at various sites. You will be heavily involved in all operations. You must be able and willing to: Work away from home for lengthy periods of time on different projects. Work long hours, overtime and possible weekend work in various weather conditions and in remote areas.
