ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY – Join an Expanding Team and Growing Organization As a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator , you will have 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role, with a strong background in managing and maintaining server infrastructure, cloud platforms, and implementing cybersecurity measures, within a mining or related organization, with multiple rural remote site locations within Canada. This position offers remote work flexibility, with regular travel into our corporate head office and operating sites in Ontario and Quebec, as required by business needs. As a fluently bilingual (English and French) Senior Systems Administrator you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our IT systems. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Accountabilities and duties will include but not limited to the following: Design, implement, and maintain server infrastructure and architecture to support the company’s operations efficiently; Manage Azure cloud services, Office 365, Windows Server, Hyper-V, and Linux environments; Implement and maintain cybersecurity tools and procedures to safeguard company data and systems; Support team with troubleshooting and day-to-day security and phishing incidents, and to identify and create remediation plans to mitigate software vulnerabilities on servers; Perform regular backups and ensure efficient recovery procedures are in place; Apply problem solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems to maintain system uptime; Collaborate with the IT team to develop and implement infrastructure designs and tools to optimize system performance; Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members; Manage service requests for the business, ensuring timely resolution and high levels of customer satisfaction; Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides; Other duties, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; 10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the mining or related industry; Microsoft industry or product specific certifications; Proficiency in managing Active Directory/Azure, Exchange Online, Office 365, Windows Server, Hyper-V, and Linux environments; Solid knowledge of security fundamentals; Experience with Veeam Data Protection platform; Experience working within a mining environment; Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python); Experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V. Strong understanding of cybersecurity tools and procedures; Experience with backup and recovery systems; Knowledge of network concepts and tools such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs; Excellent project management skills with experience managing system upgrades and implementations; Ability to effectively manage service requests and prioritize tasks to meet business needs; Experience in documentation and maintaining detailed system documentation; Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Willingness to travel to mining sites in remote communities on a regular basis; Valid drivers license in good standing is required; Fluently bilingual (verbal and written communication skills) in English and French is MANDATORY.
