DIRECTOR, SUSTAINABILITY AND POLICY FULL-TIME TORONTO Do you have 8 years of experience in regulations and sustainability? The Company Our client is a leader in establishing policies to support the well-being of Canadians. They are looking for a Director of Sustainability to join their team and lead regulatory teams. Must Have Extensive policy writing / submissions experience Extensive experience mitigating risk Experience dealing with Stakeholder conflicts and building a consensus Company Perks and Rewards Competitive Salary Incentive bonus Comprehensive benefits & generous vacation Hybrid work model & summer hours The Job You will lead regulatory and policy submissions and projects on circular economy initiatives, collaborating with various teams and members. Analyze and assess current, potential, and emerging regulations, providing insight into their impact on members and manufacturers. Review regulatory proposals and develop technical submissions aligned with organizational goals and regulations. Provide technical expertise on regulatory documents and initiatives, ensuring compliance and alignment with sustainability objectives. Draft consensus responses to government and stakeholders on circular economy and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations. Present to internal sustainability groups, manage member share groups, and serve as a liaison between the organization and external stakeholders. Represent the organization in meetings, workshops, and external activities, communicating effectively with governments and organizations. Research global policy trends and maintain policy tracking documents. Perform other tasks to support the department as needed. What you bring to the job You are someone with strong leadership and teamwork skills, with expertise in regulatory affairs and a focus on sustainability. Results-oriented, detail-oriented, and analytical, with a consultative approach to problem-solving. Post-secondary degree in a relevant field, such as sustainability. 8 years of experience in regulatory affairs, sustainability, or ESG, with direct experience in emissions reduction, circular economy, and EPR as an asset. Familiarity with the grocery, manufacturing, recycling, or environmental sectors. Ability to interpret technical and regulatory documents and communicate complex information clearly and concisely. Exceptional written communication skills for compiling technical presentations and submissions. Proficiency in MS Office and video conferencing tools.
