Environmental Services Manager

This opportunity is simple: we're inviting you to bring your skill and talent to our organization through the role of Environmental Services Manager Primary Responsibilities · Supervision of Water and Wastewater Treatment Operators, Compliance Officer, Lab Technicians, Climate Change Coordinator, and seasonal/student placements. · Day-to-day operations of the Municipal Wastewater Laboratory; · Develop the operating budget and participate in the preparation of capital budgets; · Provide leadership in interpreting, reviewing, diagnosing and resolving treatment performance issues, process calculations/modelling results, and provide recommendations for optimizing treatment; · Work closely with Engineering and Public Works (EPW) Management Team on development and implementation of related capital projects and related water and wastewater connection installation applications; · Oversee testing of water and wastewater systems and general maintenance completed by field staff ensuring regulatory compliance; · Oversee the cross connection, corrosion control and lead sampling programs; · Perform duties relating to reportable incidents as outlined in EPW operating procedures; · Develop compliance monitory program for water systems, and development of environmental and emergency response procedures; · Oversee safety inspections of all water and wastewater treatment facilities and oversee investigations and Health and Safety incidents; · Develop and maintain a consultation and reporting relationship with applicable agencies regarding current legislation and procedures; · Ensure customer concerns and complaints are dealt with in a timely and professional manner. Desired Qualifications o 5 years of experience related to municipal water or wastewater operations and supervision. o Experience in a municipal government setting would be considered an asset. o Bachelor of Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical or Civil Engineering with a focus on chemical/process, wastewater/environmental engineering will be considered an asset. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities o Knowledge and experience in the design, construction, operation and optimization of water and wastewater treatment plants and systems. o Treatment plant operational experience and the ability to collaborate/communicate effectively with system operators. o Ability to work with outside regulatory bodies. o Exceptional customer service skills. o Strong leadership skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. o Exceptional customer service skills. o Superior organizational, analytical, research, problem solving and decision-making skills. o Superior ability to interpret and contextualize regulations. o Strong communication and leadership skills. This is a full-time non-unionized position. Compensation includes a competitive salary and a benefits plan - including a pension plan (8% employer & 8% employee match) Salary will be Manager Level of the Municipal Non-Union Pay Scale, 85,510 - $109,689 ($94,061 - $120,658 with P.Eng). The hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm (37.5 hours per week). Some evening and weekend work will be required.
