Job Description

Superintendent- South Edmonton Common What you will be doing: Site Supervision and Construction Management Providing overall on-site management, and technical direction on the construction project site. Enforcing company and project policies and ensures project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. Leading the project site team; overseeing all on-site construction activities daily. Assisting with selection of trades. Taking the lead on productivity issues and monitoring work performance and efficiency of employees and subcontractors to ensure project plans and schedule are followed and project is executed effectively and within budget. Contributing to the development of a construction plan and managing subcontractor activities. Conducting weekly meetings with owners, consultants and subtrades. Reviewing labourer timesheets and ensure they are completed on time. Assuring construction compliance with design requirements, project materials and workmanship meet the project quality standards. Supervising and coordinating field engineering and construction activities. Planning and preparing schedules. Purchasing, tracking, and forecasting materials. Providing cost- effective solutions in coordination with the Project Manager of the site. Assuring compliance with project construction schedule budgets and assuming responsibility for the commissioning of the project. Advising senior management of potential problems, work interferences, or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts. Other duties, as required. Health and Safety Ensuring the implementation of SKYGRiD’s Safety Program to create a safe work environment throughout the jobsite and adhere to the safety and record keeping requirements. Holding weekly toolbox talks with site team. Talent Management Coaching and developing direct reports and site team. Conducting performance assessments and providing feedback on a quarterly basis with direct reports. What you will bring: Educational and experience requirements include a Construction related university degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience. A minimum of 10 years’ construction experience. Proven leadership ability. The ability to evaluate trade performance is essential. Foresight to predict problems before they develop. Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings and other documents. Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and clearly communicate with others. Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives. Proficiency in Office and Project Management software (e.g. MS Office/Project). A driver’s license and vehicle would be beneficial. Location: The project site location is South Edmonton Common. Travelling will be required to job site. Having a vehicle would be beneficial.
