About the opportunity: The Human Resources Business Partner provides full cycle human resources guidance and support to a designated client group, in the areas of employee relations, performance, communications, safety, onboarding, training & development and attendance management. The attributes we are looking for: Support the delivery and execution of HR programs and participate in coaching and guidance in cross functional initiatives, for example, performance management, compensation, training, and employee relations. Partner with the Talent Acquisition Specialist and the business to develop proactive strategies to address staffing needs, retention issues and succession planning. In conjunction with the hiring managers, manage the on-boarding process to ensure a smooth and engaging experience for all new hires within their client group. Promote the company culture to maintain high levels of employee engagement. Ensure all documents and information pertaining to the life cycle of employees are securely stored and information is processed accurately and timely (i.e. PATS for new hires, changes, termination etc.). This includes maintaining data for all employees in their client group as required (personnel files, training records etc.), and producing regular and/or ad-hoc reports for the teams as requested. Build strong relationships with client group and act as trusted HR partner to jointly deliver business objectives through the application and development of HR programs. May assist the site leadership team to improve operational effectiveness by providing input in the development of KPI scorecards, tracking and reporting. Design and implement strategies to maximize site performance. Ensure all practices of the designated client group are in accordance with HR policies and adhere to applicable legislation, such as ESA, Human Rights Code, etc. Support the communication and adaption of company policies and initiatives. Provide coaching to managers on employee development, talent & performance management, organizational change and people management issues. Provide guidance to managers on the administration of labour/employee relations, including, benefits, pension and respond to general Human Resources inquiries of employees and management. Provide support with Health and Safety programs, including assisting the Human Resources Manager with the development and implementation of safety training and ensuring required records related to Health & Safety (WSIB, accident investigation etc.) are maintained. Administer, monitor and follow up on disability claims (STD, LTD, WCB). Co-ordinate activities with the Benefits Manager to ensure employees are expeditiously returned to work and liaise with the proper insurance providers and/or government bodies as appropriate. What you will bring: Post-secondary education preferably in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or Business. CHRP Designation or working towards it is an asset. 3 years of work-related experience. Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment is a strong asset. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, customer service orientation and ability to build effective working relationships with all stakeholders. Organizational skills, detail orientation, flexibility and learning agility. Ability to handle multiple priorities and solve inquiries and issues expeditiously and efficiently. Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office products and the Internet as well as Human Resources Information systems.
