About the Role: As a key member of the Canadian Executive team and a member on the International Board representing Canada as one of the top five countries, the CHRO will lead a team of 65 employees to develop and implement progressive People strategies that drive Canada’s business growth objectives while ensuring alignment with the global company objectives. This role supports executives and senior leaders in building talent resourcing, development, and succession planning strategies to address challenges and ensure readiness for business growth. The CHRO champions diversity and inclusion initiatives, drives employee engagement, and shapes the organization’s culture to become recognized as an employer of choice. Additionally, the CHRO will focus on fostering strong labour relations, ensuring the successful alignment of HR strategies with the operational needs of the business, and maintaining a productive, compliant and engaged workforce across all operations, including plant locations. Responsibilities: HR Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive human resources strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives and that underpins performance and promotes a continuous improvement culture. Collaborate with senior stakeholders to influence business decisions and success while ensuring HR strategies are integrated with corporate goals. Labour Relations: Design and execute labour relations strategies aligned with business priorities, policies, operations, and practices. Lead Labour relations alignment across various functions to build and sustain a robust operational HR network across all plant and warehouse locations. Business Partnership: Strengthen and enhance the HRBP function’s proximity to the business, ensuring that HR services are continuously aligned with business needs and challenges. HR Systems & Processes Optimization: Optimize and transform HR through implementing technologies/systems - SharePoint Migration, ATS implementation, HRIS implementation (Success Factors), automation, process simplification, and the assessment of outsourcing certain activities where it could contribute to Lactalis Canada working more efficiently and or effectively. Talent Acquisition: Develop talent acquisition and retention strategies together with resource planning, optimize talent pipeline programs, establish campus & community partnerships, and ensure operations secure top talent for current, short-term, and long-term business resourcing needs and growth objectives. Training & Development: Develop strategies and lead initiatives to develop and retain talent. Enhance skills through targeted training and development strategies for the existing workforce, ensure programs foster career growth, and identify talent for promotion opportunities. Organizational Development: Understand and proactively plan for changes in our operating environment. Support organizational redesign, development, and change management; prepare leaders for the execution of change; support clients with prioritization, stabilization, and engagement tactics. Employee Engagement: Lead employee engagement initiatives, foster effective communications, and establish employee relations programs to improve employee engagement scores. External Community Engagement: Leverage external community networks and social programs designed to support DEI, ESG, and Employer Branding priorities. Compensation & Benefits: Develop, oversee, and continuously enhance a comprehensive compensation and benefits strategy that is competitive, equitable, and aligned with the company’s goals. Collaboration & Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with local, Americas zone and Global teams, fostering collaboration and building networks across the organization to share best practice, drive strategic initiatives and ensure cohesive execution of HR and business objectives. Data & KPI Management: Standardize and leverage HR data and KPIs to inform and support business performance reviews and strategic decisions and measure the ROI of HR initiatives. Standard Operating Procedures & Benchmarking: Establish & refine Standard Operating Procedures and governance frameworks for HR and people management practices. Culture Shaping: Shape the organization’s culture to align with its values, mission, and goals. Compliance: Ensure the organization complies with employment laws and recommend training and education initiatives to ensure compliance from employees and line managers. External Networking and benchmarking: Leverage external network and conduct benchmarking analysis to guide internal business decisions and influence stakeholders that may impact the labour market. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Proven track record as a CHRO or HR Executive in an established and growing CPG, Manufacturing or Retail organization. Experience in manufacturing/operations in a unionized environment, with collective bargaining required. Required Skills: Strong knowledge of HR technology, automation, and process optimization. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with ability to leverage data and use objectivity in decision making to ensure equity. Demonstrated ability to lead transformation and change management initiatives. In-depth understanding of Canadian labor laws and HR compliance. Experience with talent management, employee engagement, and performance management. Preferred Skills: Bilingual French is an asset.
